Angel Charity for Children

TUCSON , ARIZONA (FOX11AZ.com) - Angel Charity for children, is a Tucson based charity that each year makes donations that impact the lives of the Old Pueblo's youth.

This year, it didn't just improve a Tucson non-profit, the angels saved it.

The Boys and Girls Club on the south side of Tucson provides a place for kids to have fun, to stay out of trouble and to spend their free time in a positive way.

But the clubhouse where they meet is literally falling apart.

"This clubhouse is over 15 years old we have a floor that's warped in the gym baskets need to be replaced the electrical system is shot. we got mold in the roof and it just goes on and on and on. It's just a worn down building," said Tucson Boys and Girls Club CEO Armando Rios.

The cost to fix all the problems would come to about $350,000 more than what's in its annual operating budget.

The board made a pitch to Angel Charity for children, a Tucson-based charity which grants money to schools or non-profits that help kids.

The club was facing the possibility of closure, but early Wednesday afternoon the Boys and Girls Club in mission park received a phone call from an angel.

The Angel Charity chose to give the Boys and Girls Club the full amount it needs, $350,000.

"This is a great day for these kids because we are now able to put up what will amount to a new clubhouse to continue to serve them," said Rios.

The pool, games, basketball and other after school activities at the Roy Drachman clubhouse won't end, thanks to the help of a group of angels.

Wednesday the Angel Charity of Tucson also gave $236,000 to the children's museum and $191,000 to trot tots therapeutic riding.

The Angel Charity consists of 150 active members.
