Toys for Tots

CHAMBERSBURG , PENNSYLVANIA (Chambersburg Public Opinion) - Toys for Tots is still accepting donations of toys, as well as cash to buy toys, for 1,640 needy children in Franklin and Fulton counties this Christmas.

Most of the organization's donation boxes have been removed from area businesses. But donations of new, unwrapped toys can be brought directly to the Toys for Tots distribution center at North Pointe Business Center (the former Norland Shopping Center on U.S. 11, north of Chambersburg).

The distribution center is set up in the former Gold's Gym site on the south end of the shopping center, all the way to the opposite end from the Orrstown Bank Operations Center. The building's windows are covered with white paper.

Volunteers will be staffing the center and packaging toys for distribution from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. the rest of the week. Donors can call Kathy Hoffman, Toys for Tots operations coordinator, at (703) 357-8689 to make sure volunteers are on hand to receive the donations. Donors should access the center through the front doors.

The drive can also use cash donations and donations of Flex Force 30-gallon garbage bags.

Although donations can be taken to the Marine Corps League, 450 Grant St., Chambersburg, donors are encouraged to take their donations to the toy distribution center in Greene Township if at all possible.
