NEW YORK, NEW YORK (New York's PIX11 / WPIX-TV) - They were used simply to breed at "puppy mills" and then left for dead. But thanks to the efforts of Save-A-Pet, 20 adult dogs have been rescued from an almost certain death sentence.
The Animal Rescue and Adoption Center along with Best Friends Animal Society of Utah saved the canines that were abandoned by local puppy mill owners.
Sick with disease and malnourishment the dogs will be nursed back to health so they can be ready for adoption, Save-A-Pet President Dori Scofield said.
The animal rescue operation also has video and photographic proof of the horrendous conditions these dogs had to live in, said Scofield.
