Make-A-Wish Foundation

DULLES, VIRGINIA (Comics Alliance) - Superman, Batman, Iron Man and Spider-Man only exist in the realm of fiction, but that doesn't mean there aren't superheroes out there in the world. It appears that many of these heroes work for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as the organization recently fulfilled Erik Martin's own superhero aspirations through a series of elaborately-staged, but no less meaningful events.

Erik, a 13-year-old Seattle resident who is battling with liver cancer, taps into his creative side by assuming the identity of Electron Boy. On a recent Thursday, Erik was contacted by Spider-Man with the news that the Seattle Sounders had been abducted by Dr. Dark and Blackout Boy in the locker room at Qwest Field. Teaming up with Moonshine Maid, Lightning Lad and others, Electron Boy traveled across Seattle, liberated the Sounders and thwarted Dr. Dark and Blackout Boy's evil plans.

The elaborate superhero event called upon hundreds of Washington volunteers to help realize Erik's superhero dreams. If you're in the mood for a touching story, head on over to The Seattle Times and read their full recollection of the day's events.
