WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA (Wheeling Intelligencer) - The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming to Wheeling.

Well, some of them anyway.

A team made up of recognizable names in the local sports community will take on select Steelers players in a charity basketball game at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wheeling Park High School.

Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society via the Ohio County Relay for Life.

The Steelers haven't announced who they will send, but those who've followed basketball in the Ohio Valley the last decade are sure to recognize the guys they will play against.

Wheeling Park boys' basketball coach Michael Jebbia and Bill Seabright, a 1957 Wheeling High graduate and a big supporter of Park basketball, will coach the local team.

Team members are: Jose Davis, a former Bellaire star; Chad Dickman, Wheeling Jesuit men's basketball assistant coach; Eric Bovaird, West Liberty University assistant coach; Chase Groves, a former Buckeye Local and Glenville State standout; Maqsood Harrington, an ex-WJU star; Jerry Ammirante, who starred at Bellaire and West Liberty; Bernie Dolan, Wheeling Park High School principal and ''3-point specialist,'' according to Jebbia; Dr. William Mercer, Ohio County health officer; Adam Shinsky, current YMCA program coordinator and former Bishop Donahue star; and D'Jhae Jackson, a member of Wheeling Park's 2009 state tournament team.

The event is the brainchild of Fawn Thomas, a local volunteer for Relay for Life who is working with two family teams plus the American Cancer Society Youth Board at Wheeling Park High School to make it happen.

Tickets are $7 and will be available at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m.
