LONDON, U K (Earthtimes (press release)) - RESTON, VA -- 07/07/09 -- Best Friends Animal Society cares for over 1,700 abandoned animals on its 3,700-acre refuge in southwestern Utah. Funded 100% through private donations, Best Friends rescues animals and works hard to place them in "forever homes." Doug Sattler takes care of the Microsoft Exchange system that the 435 people who take care of those animals depend on. Sattler needed to find a reliable Exchange backup and recovery solution. After trying several solutions that were "painful" and "made me feel like I was going to get fired," Sattler discovered Replay AppImage.

After implementation which he describes as "point and click," Sattler began using Replay AppImage to backup his Exchange system. He takes snapshots every 30 minutes. He's also used Replay AppImage to restore deleted Exchange mailboxes and folders. Locating and restoring lost Exchange elements takes minutes.

Sattler will continue to depend on Replay AppImage through a planned migration to Windows 2003 server and Exchange 2010. And he's planning to take advantage of Replay AppImage's virtualization capabilities. "When I have standalone storage in place I'll off-load Replay AppImage to virtual servers."

Sattler isn't the only Best Friends employee that is glad to have Replay AppImage in place. "There's a high level of emotion here and the work can be stressful," he says. "People need to get their email in and out. The dogs and cats don't care about email, but the 435 people that take care of them sure do."

Executive Quotes:

Doug Sattler, Network Administrator, Best Friends

"We are completely dependent on email," says Sattler. "We couldn't conduct fund-raising or get through the adoption process without it."

"My goal was to ensure that we didn't lose email. Five days, five hours, five minutes -- no outage was acceptable. And I needed to run backups and restore data without using a lot of internal resources."

"During my initial testing I blew up my own mailbox -- on purpose -- and then restored it without a problem," he remembers. "I called in my boss and showed him: there was my mailbox, then it was gone, then I restored it. He looked at me and said 'When are we going to get this?' It was very easy to sell Replay AppImage's value to him and his boss.

"The efficiency of restoration is amazing," reports Sattler. "Replay AppImage is why I can sleep at night. I know that accounting, for example, can blow up a mailbox and it will be o.k."
