INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (fox59.com) - Everything is better the day after a win, even hitting the lanes for some bowling.

Colts linebacker Robert Mathis partnered with the Lids Foundation, Amp Harris and Pastor Jeffery Johnson to host a charity bowling event at Woodland Bowl in Carmel Monday night. The goal is to raise money to give toys to a thousand children this holiday season.

“There were a couple of Christmas’ we weren’t able to get presents, so my heart goes out to the kids that are in that situation,” Mathis said. “I try to do anything I can to help.”

The Colts trailed Chicago 23-19 late in the game before D’Qwell Jackson gave the team a fiery speech on the sideline.

Andrew Luck then hit T.Y. Hilton for a 35-yard touchdown and the defense made two huge plays, forcing a turnover and stopping the Bears on a critical fourth down play. The Colts hung on to win, 29 to 23 to improve to 2-3 on the season.

“I think everyone felt that sense of urgency,” said Jackson. “I was just trying to remind guys of that urgency. We just need to step it up a little bit. We responded and fortunate for us we were able to make more plays than them down the stretch and win the game.”

The Colts will face the Texans in Houston Sunday night with the chance to move into a first place tie in the AFC South.
