RIDGEFIELD, CONNECTICUT (Wilton Bulletin) - Stephanie Larose and Marguerite Romeus, nurses at Wilton Meadows Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, are two of more than 50 Wilton Meadows staff members with family members in Haiti. With smiles and tears, they proudly presented a donation of $20,966 to be shared by AmeriCares and the American Red Cross to help the Haitian people in the huge task of rebuilding their lives and their country.
In April, Ms. Larose will travel to Haiti to personally deliver an additional $1,500 in medical supplies. The money represents an initial $10,000 from Fred Rzepka, head of TransCon Builders, which owns Wilton Meadows and The Greens at Cannondale, plus over $10,000 from TransCon staff members in Wilton, Greenwich, Hamden and New Milford.
Diane M. Castrovinci, development director of the Connecticut Chapter of American Red Cross, and Carol B. Bauer, AmeriCares trustee, received the contribution and expressed their compassion for the many staff members who lost relatives in the disaster. Andrew Krochko, Wilton Meadows administrator, said 53 of his staff of 170 had relatives in Haiti. Wilton Meadows led a memorial service for those lost.
