Ferne Animal Sanctuary

SOMERSET, U K (This is The West Country) - Ferne Animal Sanctuary are appealing for help to re-home 15 cockerels which were dumped on their doorstep.

Animal manager Naomi Clarke was out taking her dog for a walk on Tuesday, July 31, at 5.45am when she saw a car parked on the driveway. When she walked towards the car she saw a man wearing a hoodie carrying boxes out of the car and putting them on the floor outside reception.

Naomi felt it unwise to approach the man in case of a possible confrontation – but when the car had gone she approached the boxes and heard clucking. It was a big surprise to discover all the boxes contained cockerels and that there were 15 of them in total.

The sanctuary is in a major predicament – with nowhere suitable to house them and they are unable to keep them as they already have enough cockerels of their own.

If you can help re-home the abandoned cockerels contact Ferne Animal Sanctuary on 01460-65214 and for more information follow the related link on this story.
