Atlanta Community Food Bank

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (WGCL Atlanta) - On Thursday, Rose Acre Farms will be donating 43,200 eggs to Atlanta Community Food Bank.

Founded in 1979, the Atlanta Community Food Bank currently distributes over 30 million pounds of food and other donated grocery items each year to more than 700 non-profit partner agencies in 38 counties in Metro Atlanta and North Georgia.

Rose Acre Farms is 3rd generation family farm that has been serving America for more than 70 years.

"In our challenging economy, families are having a very difficult time putting food on the table, leading more and more to turn to food banks around the country for help," said the food bank.

Egg farmers nationwide will donate nearly 10 million eggs to help make sure America's food banks are well stocked.

Fresh eggs are always a prized item for food banks due to their dense nutritional and high protein content, but they are also one of the hardest food categories for food banks to acquire.
