NAPERVILLE, ILLINOIS (TribLocal) - Naperville Area Humane Society’s seventh annual Virtual Adopt-A-Thon has officially begun. This unique fundraiser highlights adoptable humans who are volunteering to be adopted to benefit the homeless pets at NAHS.

“This is the seventh year for our web-based fundraiser,” explains Angie Wood, executive director for the Naperville Area Humane Society. “We need supporters interested in becoming adoptable humans—our goal this year is 50 participants. The Virtual Adopt-A-Thon is a fun and easy way to help raise much-needed funds for the animals in our care, and you don’t even need to leave your home. To become an adoptable human, just visit our website – www.napervilleareahumanesociety.org – submit your information, and spread the word to your family and friends that you’re up for adoption. It really is that simple,” continues Wood.

“To support your favorite adoptable human, just log on to our website, pick your favorite, and make a donation in his or her name,” says Monica Bucek, NAHS’ development director. Some fun donation suggestions include a comfy bed for $75, basic training for $100, spaying or neutering for $150 and an adoption for $250. All donations made through our Virtual Adopt-A-Thon support the programs and services of the Naperville Area Humane Society,” Bucek adds.

NAHS’ goal for the 2012 Virtual Adopt-A-Thon is to raise $15,000. Those interested in participating in the Virtual Adopt-A-Thon by becoming an adoptable human can sign up directly on the Naperville Area Humane Society website at www.napervilleareahumanesociety.org/how-you-can-help/virtual-adopt-a-thon/adoptee-registration.
