Sport Relief
BRISTOL, U K (This is Bristol) - Pupils at a new dance school whirled and twirled their way through their very first show to raise money for the charity Sport Relief.
About 20 toddlers aged between two and four donned fairy costumes, while adults braved their tutus for the first time for the ballet performance at the David Lloyd gym in Westbury-on-Trym last night.
They were given a reassuring confidence boost when they were joined by soloists and up-and-coming professionals.
All the performers are from the Emily Baker School of Dance, based in the gym and at Stoke Bishop village hall.
Ms Baker, 29, of Coombe Dingle, teaches dance to all ages, from "baby ballet" to adult classes in ballet, tap and modern dance.
Ms Baker, who has been dancing since she was two, has worked as a dancer at Disneyland Paris and qualified as a ballet teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, and as a tap and modern teacher with the Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing.
She set up her school in October and already has 100 pupils.
Ms Baker said: "I am hoping to raise as much as possible for Sport Relief, and the support I have had from parents, the dancers themselves and the local community is heartwarming."
There will be another performance at the David Lloyd gym tonight. For more information, visit www.emilybakerdance.co.uk.
