Alzheimer’s Society

LONDON, U K (ITCM) - The brains of some of some the brightest business men and woman in Birmingham were put to the test at a charity quiz last night to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Organised by Hays Recruitment Specialists and the ICC Birmingham, over 120 people turned out for the event on 14 March.
The event raised just over fifteen hundred pounds for the charity who helps over 86,000 people with dementia every year.

Emily Weighill, Community Fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society, said: “We are extremely grateful to Hays for all the time and energy they have put into organising the event, and to the ICC for providing the venue and food for free.

“It was a wonderful evening which everyone enjoyed and vital funds were raised to help continue to support people living with dementia in the local community. As a charity, we rely on the generosity of businesses to help us support the work we do.” Eleven local businesses including Kennedys Law, Deloittes and Britvic put forward teams to take part in the quiz and showcase their general knowledge skills. Fighting off tough competition, Kennedys Law were crowned champions coming first place with 42 points out of 48. The Jurys Inn team came second with 40 points, followed closely by the Insolvency Service in third place.

As well as the quiz, guests were invited to take part in a raffle to win prizes donated by businesses from the Colmore Business District, which included wine tasting classes, beauty treatments, a two course meal and free bottle of wine at Hotel du Vin and sports memorabilia.

Hays Director Mark Seymour was extremely happy with evening. He said: “Our Birmingham team were delighted to organise the quiz evening for the Hays corporate charity, the Alzheimer’s Society. I’d like to thank all of those who attended, donated prizes and the ICC for their support in making it such a successful evening.”

Companies attending the event generously donated a table fee, all of which was donated to the Alzheimer’s Society. Account Director Lisa Cook from the ICC worked with Hays to organise the event. She said: “We were delighted to be able to help Hays organise this event and do our bit for such a worthy cause. It is important that businesses in Birmingham work together to use their skills, facilities and contacts to help local charities and give something back to the community.

“I would definitely like to see the ICC Birmingham get involved in more events like this in the future.”
