Seattle Humane Society

SAMMAMISH, WASHINGTON (Patch.com) - The Bellevue-based shelter and PetSmart charities will provide free spay and neuter surgeries for pit bulls in King County. Owners need to make an appointment.

The Seattle Humane Society and PetSmart Charities are joining forces to provide free spay and neuter surgeries for Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes in King County. The dogs will also receive free vaccinations, and microchips will be available for $5.

The Seattle Humane Society won a $77,200 grant from PetSmart Charities for the effort.

King County residents can make an appointment online today at seattlehumane.org or call 425-649-7560.

Make an appointment to have your pit fixed for free at Seattle Humane and you'll receive a $10 Bully Buck! Bully Bucks can be used towards the purchase of any item in the shelter's retail store including dog collars, leashes, toys, T-shirts, water bottles, fun tote bags, and more. Recommend Seattle Humane's free Pit Bull spay/neuter program to a friend and you'll receive another $10 Bully Buck for each person who mentions your name when making a Pit Bull spay/neuter appointment. (The $10 Bully Buck is per person, not per dog.)

Pit Bull mixes make up approximately 30 percent of lost, stray and abandoned animals in our community's shelters. Thanks to this $77,200 grant from PetSmart Charities, the Humane Society hopes to help change those statistics by altering more than 750 dogs and helping save lives by ending unwanted litters.
