SOUTHPORT, U K (Southport Visiter) - Guests at the Sefton Mayor’s Ball stepped back in time to revisit the 1930s.

The ball was held at the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre, and more than 250 guests came along to enjoy the night.

Swing band Swingology provided a lot of the entertainment and the night was full of dancing, laughing and competitions.

Many of the guests got into spirit of the festivities by dressing in 1930s fashion.

The ball was in the aid of the Mayor’s Charity Fund, which aims to raise as much money as possible and then dispense it to many of the other charities in the area.

An impressive £8,000 was raised at the ball, which is a new record for the Sefton Mayor’s ball.

Money was raised through, silent auctions, tombola stalls and raffles. One of items up for bid was a day with the Mayor of Sefton himself, which sold for £100.

Other prizes include a cottage holiday in North Wales, a day with Mersey Police and a helicopter ride.

Mayor, Paul Cummins, says: “It was a very informal event that went off with great success. I would like to tank everyone who donated, the businesses, the committee who volunteered to organise the ball and all the staff.”
