Bay Area Food Bank

MILTON, FLORIDA (Santa Rosa Press Gazette) - For over 10 years, the Panhandle Branch of the Bay Area Food Bank has been serving those who are less fortunate in the area.

A week from Thursday, the food bank will celebrate its 10th anniversary at their Panhandle Branch location inside the Santa Rosa County Industrial Park in East Milton.

The celebration will run in conglomeration with the Santa Rosa County Chamber of Commerceís After Hours celebration for the month of March.

The anniversary celebration is open to anyone interested, and free tours of their facility will be given throughout the night. Along with tours, the branch will have a live band on hand.

The current facility the Panhandle Branch is housed at helps distribute millions of pounds of food per year to ministries and to other counties across the south.

The Panhandle Branch currently has nine employees, eight of which are full time employees.

For the past two years, the branch has teamed up to help feed people during Thanksgiving with the Farm to City initiative in conglomeration with Panhandle Fresh.

The initiative helps bring thousands of pounds of food to those less fortunate over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Last year in December, the Bay Area Food Bank by itself celebrated 30 years covering 24 counties in the south.
