NORWALK, CONNECTICUT (The Hour) - Earthplace has received a $3,000 grant from Patagonia-Westport to support its Harbor Watch water quality monitoring program.

The grant will allow Harbor Watch to assess the water quality of the three streams that feed directly into the Mill Pond near Compo Beach.

With the grant, Harbor Watch will collect water samples, conduct laboratory testing and analysis to identify potential "hot spots" or sources of contamination.

Harbor Watch at Earthplace, which is a grassroots volunteer program, maintains an independent, state-licensed, testing laboratories in the Fairfield County area. The samples that are collected will provide data to local town governments working to protect water habitats.

For additional information or to volunteer, visit www. earthplace.org or contact Dick Harris, director of Harbor Watch, at (203) 227-7253 ext. 121.
