NEW YORK, NEW YORK (AllMediaNY) - Hugh Hefner, the man who brought the naked woman to the forefront of pop culture, was honored by the charity Angelwish for his humanitarian efforts at a post-Grammy party Sunday night.
Rapper and fashion mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs hosted the “Fame at the Mansion” party, which was also a fundraiser for the charity. Held at the Playboy Mansion, the founders of Angelwish honored Hefner with the award.
“Tens of thousands of children living with chronic illnesses will benefit from the funds raised on February 12th,” said Angelwish founder Shimmy Mehta. “We are especially excited that we will get to honor Mr. Hefner with our Humanitarian of the Year award for all his charitable efforts over the years and for allowing us to include him in this celebration.”
Former Playboy model and PETA spokeswoman Pamela Anderson presented Hefner with the award for his children’s charity. The party featured a fashion show by designer Von Vonni, and model/DJ Sarah Robertson spun a set.
“I received an Angelwish Humanitarian of the Year Award from Pam Anderson at a post-Grammy Mansion party hosted by Sean Diddy Combs,” Hefner tweeted after the event. “Playmate Jenny McCarthy was here to lend her support as well. It was a grand evening.”
The Playboy founder became involved with the charity in 1999 at its inauguration in an effort to give children affected with HIV/AIDS a normal life. Since its founding, Hefner has expanded Angelwish to help children with chronic illnesses, including diabetes, kidney disease and asthma.
