Muscular Dystrophy Association

ESTHERVILLE, IOWA (Estherville Daily News) - The Estherville Fire Deprtment had an excellent Fill-the-Boot weekend campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

During their streetside collection campaign, Estherville firefighters collected an amazing $2,583 in two days to assist those affected by muscular dystrophy.

During the 2011 Fill-the-Boot campaign, Grimes firefighters collected a generous amount of over $1,900 in one day, with all funds raised going to MDA. The 2011 total sealed Estherville firefighters as one of the best collecting non-union departments in the state of Iowa. To date, firefighters are the single-largest contributor to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, donating an incredible $23 million this year.

Proceeds raised during the campaign will help support MDA services and research programs, including MDA's outpatient clinics for people with one of the more than 43 neuromuscular diseases at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

The Estherville firefighters wish to sincerely thank the citizens and visitors of Estherville who graciously donated their money for this most worthy cause.
