Habitat for Humanity

CASPER, WYOMING (Casper Journal) - Habitat for Humanity is an organization that gives a hand-up to people who need a decent place to live.

But this week, Habitat for Humanity will be the one receiving a hand-up from a group of people who will host an outdoor community party/fundraiser to help Habitat meet a $25,000 matching grant from the McMurry Foundation.

The public is invited to a family oriented lawn party that will feature live music by Cory and the Crew, kids’ activities, games and face painting, dunk tank and a raffle. The grand prize for the raffle is 50 hours of a professional paint company’s labor and 20 gallons of Diamond Vogel paint.

Food will be available for purchase from Cup Cakes A-Go-Go, The Art of Coffee and the Big Red Bus.

Rev. Dee Lundberg is an event organizer and a member of the local Habitat board. “What I really like about Habitat is that it’s a hand-up, not a hand-out,” she said, “for people coming out of difficult circumstances through no fault of their own. They really have to work to earn this benefit. So do we all.”

Lundberg said the goal of the event is to raise money “and have some fun at the same time.” People may come as they are, she said, “but please, just come.”

Admission is free for all ages, but everyone will be encouraged to make a donation.
