COLUMBUS, OHIO (NBC4i.com) - Two weeks ago, NBC4 told you Trevor Robinett's story.
The Reynoldsburg teen who lives with spinal muscular atrophy is sitting at home this summer instead of his usual trip to camp.
He’s been attending the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s week-long residential camp since he was 5 years old.
This year, camp advisors sent him home, indicating Trevor was too sick to attend.
MDA has promised to work with Trevor's family to get him to camp next summer, but if that doesn't work out, the Robinett family received another offer.
Moved by Trevor's story, an Indianapolis camp, called Champ Camp, is extending an invitation to Trevor and his family.
"This is sometimes the only opportunity these kids have to explore the outdoors and really feel connected with kids who are just like them," said Jennifer Kobylarz, executive director of Champ Camp. "We believe that Trevor would be a perfect fit for Champ Camp."
Champ Camp is a week-long overnight camp just like the MDA camp and the offer came at a time when Trevor's dad, Tim, is skeptical about allowing Trevor to return to MDA camp.
"I think that's pretty awesome. It's awesome that people would reach out," Tim said.
