In 2011, after a comprehensive five-year public process involving a wide range of stakeholders, the state of Washington finally approved a wolf plan that seemed to mark the dawn of a new, hopeful era for people coexisting with wildlife.
All that hard work though is now under attack from a series of anti-wolf bills before the state legislature. Please take a moment to speak up for Washington's wolves; we have to stop these bills in their tracks.
The state wildlife agency just hired a brand new director and convened a Wolf Advisory Group to include even more voices and an expert in conflict prevention. Instead of tossing out the wolf plan and interfering with this working group, the legislature should focus on passing a budget that will fund nonlethal, conflict-deterrence measures that have been proven to work.
