Tech Corps Wisconsin Charity Profile
Tech Corps Wisconsin, Inc. provides donated computers, technical support, as well as training to schools, non-profits and qualifying families. The donated computer systems are frequently installed in labs and classrooms, which are networked by TCW. Typically all required components, network server, hubs, UPS and cabling is provided. TCW not only installs and configures the equipment, but supports and maintains it as well. We also provide Internet access to families for home use.
TCW works with PC hardware and software. TCW volunteers gain practical experience in the fields of building computer systems, networking, troubleshooting, and software installation.
What is a "refurbished computer"?
TCW receives surplus computer equipment from corporations, businesses, governments, and private individuals. Volunteers take this equipment, clean it, repair it, upgrade it and install software on it before making it available to recipients.
TCW installs software some of which requires a license and some license free. Operating system software is licensed to qualifying organizations via the Microsoft MAR program. Schools and other recipients are responsible for licensing all software used.

Tech Corps Wisconsin Volunteer Information
Unpaid volunteers are recruited to refurbish and upgrade computer systems, install and configure computer systems and networks, support these systems, and provide training.
All volunteers and sponsors will "take their vendor hats off" when involved in Tech Corps Wisconsin, Inc. (TCW) projects. There will be no sales of services and equipment to the involved school districts by our volunteers or sponsors. We are a corps of technical workers and IT. professionals, but we also welcome teachers, parents, and school students. This is a valuable learning experience for those involved. We clean, update, repair and load software on computers during our five days per week work sessions.
We need the following types of Volunteers:
Students (college and high school age 13 and up)
Computer Professionals
Those with an interest in computer technology and a willingness to work
We encourage people to help their local schools by volunteering for Tech Corps Wisconsin, Inc. Volunteers receive on-the-job training; if you don't have many computer skills, we will teach you.
TCW has volunteer opportunities available Tuesdays through Saturday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 PM. Volunteers either bring their own lunches, or bring money to order sandwiches from a local deli
