Born in 1980 when a group of caring volunteers helped a young boy fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, the Foundation is now the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 67 chapters in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and more than 25,000 volunteers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation grants a wish every 40 minutes and has granted more than 161,000 wishes in the U.S. since inception.
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin Volunteer Information
WHEN YOU VOLUNTEER at the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin, you truly are helping make wishes come true.
Whether you would like to help a child experience the magic of a wish, participate in special events, promote special programs or assist us in one of our two offices, there may be an opportunity for you.
WISH GRANTERS act as liaisons between wish children and the Make-A-Wish® office. A wish granter meets with the wish child and his or her family to plan their one special wish.
Please know that our need for wish granters is sporadic based upon the amount of children who qualify for a wish and where they live, so we may not always have openings. Also, the average wish granter grants 1-3 wishes per year.
OFFICE HELP Volunteering at one of our two Wisconsin offices allows you to work alongside the Make-A-Wish® staff to make wishes come true. From light clerical work to computer-related projects, we are always in need of assistance and welcome adult volunteers of all ages and skill sets.
SPECIAL EVENTS help us raise funds to make the wishes we grant possible. Each year, hundreds of people share the power of a wish® when they volunteer at one of our signature events or one of many outside fundraisers.
