The Society of St. Andrew Charity Profile
The Society of St. Andrew was formed in 1979 as an intentional community of two families called to life and ministry together in Christ. It has grown into an ecumenical, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to leading others into lives of Christian community and service.
We take our name from the disciple Andrew who was always introducing others to our Lord. Most notably, Andrew played a crucial role in the feeding of the 5,000 when he brought the boy with five barley loaves and two small fish to Jesus, which he multiplied to feed the crowd.
Since its founding in 1979 the Society of St. Andrew has worked to fulfill the mandate of the Gospel in our lives by striving to adhere to the words of I John 3:18:
The Society of St. Andrew Volunteer Information
The Society of St. Andrew is a grass-roots ministry that relies on tens of thousands of people each year who volunteer to spend time with us in the gleaning fields and to help in other ways.
The faithfulness and dedication of those who assist us is critical in our efforts to bridge the hunger gap. Specifically, we need volunteers for the following activities:
To help glean America's fields and feed America's hungry.
To speak on our behalf in front of churches, church groups, and civic organizations.
To encourage their own churches to support our ministry by participating in our church giving programs.
The Society of St. Andrew Donation Information
Every two cents donated to the Society of St. Andrew results in a serving of fresh, nutritious food being provided to a hungry American. Here is another way to look at it: For just $50 the Society of St. Andrew can provide the USDA recommended amount of fruits and vegetables to a needy American for an entire year!
