WETA Charity Profile

WETA's mission is to produce and broadcast programs of intellectual integrity and cultural merit that recognize viewers' and listeners' intelligence, curiosity and interest in the world around them.

As an independent and not-for-profit public broadcaster and producer, WETA provides its viewers and listeners with quality, compelling programs and serves a broad community with educational projects and Web-based initiatives.

The gift of your time

The following volunteer opportunities are available. For more information, please call our volunteer line at 703-998-2762 or tell us about yourself by filling out the form on the right.

Group volunteers
Groups of approximately 35 people are needed to appear live on-air to answer incoming pledge calls during our TV pledge drives in March, August and December. It's a fun way for a business, service organization, club or community group to get together, gain a bit of publicity and help out a good cause.

The time commitment is usually one 3-5 hour shift, most often in the evenings with some weekend afternoons also available. Participating groups will be recognized on-air.

WETA Donation Information

For more than 45 years, our commitment to the public has remained our guiding principle. The donations of viewers and listeners like you indicate how much you value public broadcasting's ability to enhance lifelong learning, present diverse perspectives, and foster citizenship and culture. In fact, almost 50 percent of our local operating funds come from individual pledges and donations. We couldn't do it without you.
