Davis County Sheriffs Search And Rescue Charity Profile
The Davis County Sheriff's Search & Rescue, established more than 40 years ago, provides the citizens of Davis County with professional search & rescue services free of charge 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. This 35 member all-volunteer team responds to calls for assistance in the rugged mountains and waterways throughout Davis County. Search & Rescue volunteers spend thousands of hours each year training to ensure that they are able to provide professional service when called upon for assistance. This service is provided under the direction of the Davis County Sheriff's Office.
It is our duty as volunteer members of the Davis County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue to save lives and assist those in need. We will be prepared any time of the day or night to perform this duty in a professional manner; safely, quickly and efficiently. We place this duty before our own personal desires and comforts – and do so without thought for personal compensation or reward. The Davis County Sheriff's Search & Rescue (DCSAR) is an all-volunteer organization which works under the direction of the Davis County Sheriff's Office. The DCSAR is on call 24 hours / day, 365 days / year, and respond to over 800 square miles in Davis County, Utah. DCSAR also responds to calls for assistance from other counties and agencies abroad.
Search and rescue volunteers are selected from the community based in their expertise and special talents--but the primary requirement for membership is a true desire to help others. The group includes mountaineering specialists, rock climbers, cavers, scuba divers, tracking specialists, and swiftwater rescue technicians. Our members come from all walks of life--some come to us with experience, some without. Those without prior rescue experience go through a rigorous training program prior to becoming full members of the organization

Davis County Sheriffs Search And Rescue Volunteer Information
When openings are available, search and rescue volunteers are selected from the local community. We are most interested in motivated people who can be available and respond 24 hours a day without pay to search and rescue callouts. Applying to the team should be a well thought out decision, as the time and monetary demands are significant during the first 6 months.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
Be a U.S. citizen
Be 21 years of age
Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D
Possess a valid Utah Driver's License
Have CPR and Basic First Aid Certifications
Be in good physical condition
Pass a physical fitness test involving running, pushups, situps and strength.

Davis County Sheriffs Search And Rescue Donation Information
The DCSAR is a non-profit organization registered in the State of Utah. Working as an official auxiliary of the Davis County Sheriff's Office, we receive no significant funding from tax dollars. Funds to purchase equipment and training are raised from generous donations by local businesses and individuals throughout the year.
