United Nations Development Programme Uruguay UNDP Charity Profile
UNDP operates in Uruguay as a development agency since 1962.In the early decades (1960-1980), technical cooperation, mainly, at the request of the Government, in providing expertise and resources of developed countries.Since then, UNDP will play a more active role in supporting the Government in designing and implementing development programs and projects that have funding from various sources such as non-reimbursable funds from UNDP funds for the same governments, contributions from bilateral donors or resources from international financial institutions.The amounts that UNDP Uruguay administered by any concept for the past three years were as follows: U.S. $ 15421000 in 2006, U.S. $ 18289000 in 2007 and $ 21586.000 2008.
UNDP supports initiatives aimed at achieving the Millennium Development Goals and national goals that the country was proposed after an extensive consultation process launched in 2003 with the Government and civil society, which culminated in the development of the country report that Uruguay reached the United Nations on March 10, 2005. UNDP programs in the following areas: Democratic Governance, Poverty Reduction, Energy and Environment, HIV / AIDS and knowledge-based development and diversification of production.
