Pond Conservation Charity Profile

Ponds are a unique resource for wildlife, an important part of our history and culture and provide an amenity for many communities. Ponds also play an important role in water management and carbon capture. Ponds are as important for biodiversity as rivers and lakes and have many rare species. But ponds are a threatened habitat - the number in the UK has estimated to have declined by over a third from the 1940s to the 1980s. We deliver our conservation aims through our expert staff and our conservation, community, research and policy work.
