Fife Society For The Blind Charity Profile
Serious sight loss is something that people having good sight fear most. This is because much of what we learn about the world around us is through the sense of sight and it is difficult to appreciate how a serious sight loss can be overcome.
Since 1865 Fife Society for the Blind has been working to make life with sight loss easier. As an independent voluntary organisation we provide a range of support services which include volunteers, social & recreational and fundraising, many of which aim to address social isolation. A full range of professional services are delivered through our Insight Team and if you are experiencing sight loss Insight are there to support you.
If you are a business, public body or voluntary agency then FSB Enterprises Ltd is our social enterprise company which uses our professional knowledge and skills in sight loss, and disability in many ways, including help in complying with the Disablity Discrimination Act 2005. We also invite you to visit our on-line shop for a range of unique products.
Fife Society for the Blind do not employ professional fundraisers and relies entirely on voluntary effort to ensure that we can deliver essential services to those most in need.

Fife Society For The Blind Volunteer Information
Make this the year you make a difference by Volunteering to help someone who is not as fortunate as yourself. Fife Society for the Blind rely on the good will of people who have some time on their hands to have a go at any number of volunteering opportunities.
As we approach winter, you might be wondering how to fill the darker afternoons? You could be retired, unemployed, are on benefits or have a skill you want to share with others. Why not share that skill or passion with people who have a sight loss . At Fife Society for the Blind we need people to do a whole host of things, covering all areas in Fife. For example – Volunteer Befrienders to visit blind and partially sighted people in their own homes for a chat or take them for a coffee, a run in the car, anything that will help break the monotony of the day and alleviate some of the loneliness and isolation they feel.
In Volunteering with Fife Society for the Blind you will become part of a well established community project with a ‘bank’ of loyal and committed volunteers enabling blind and partially sighted people to participate in a range of social and recreational activities. Volunteer Vacancies
Minibus Drivers
Fife Society for the Blind’s volunteer minibus drivers play a vital role in the organisation by transporting those with a sight loss to one of the many blind social clubs held throughout Fife. Some of our blind and partially sighted clients are unable to travel on public transport. Without Minibus Drivers, many blind people wouldn’t be able to attend and for some, it may be their only outing of the week. This is an important and rewarding volunteering opportunity. To become involved, all Minibus drivers are required to undertake MIDAS (Minibus Drivers Awareness Scheme) training that FSB can arrange. So, if you’ve ever fancied yourself as a bus driver and enjoy helping others then make contact and get involved. This is a skill you can add to a CV. If driving is your passion or pastime, please get in touch.
