Oakhaven Hospice Charity Profile
Oakhaven Hospice Trust is an organisation offering innovative and highly respected specialist palliative care in partnership with others across the New Forest, setting standards to which others aspire.
The externally accredited organisation offers a clinical, educational and advisory resource, which appropriately meets the assessed needs of the local population. The service succeeds in being accessible, auditable and accountable, reflecting evidence-based practice.
Integral to Oakhaven's achievements has been a careful and creative use of resources ensuring both value for money and a stable financial base from which we continue to extend our service. Oakhaven recognises that its greatest resource is its highly trained and skilled workforce and the community of volunteers and supporters who have together developed the strong sense of shared ownership enabling us to excel.
Oakhaven Hospice provides specialist care to patients, carers and families who are facing complex physical, emotional and practical difficulties arising from advanced progressive life-limiting illness. We believe in respecting the individual's dignity and choices and enhance the quality of care for patients in all care settings through partnership, collaboration, advice and education.

Oakhaven Hospice Volunteer Information
Oakhaven's Voluntary Services Group supports and enhances the work of the hospice staff and is a highly respected and much valued part of the team. Our volunteers form an award-winning team and their contribution to the local community was recognised by the 2004 Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
Over 240 volunteers devote over 36,000 hours of their time each year, performing a vast range of activities that includes:
Serving meals and refreshments
Administration
Gardening
Reception services
Maintenance
Library facilities
Fundraising
Manning retail shops
Driving/patient transport
Some volunteers provide their time as and when they are able, others commit to a certain number of hours on a more regular basis. Relatives and carers of patients very often comment on the support they have had from Oakhaven's volunteers when writing to express their appreciation of the care that they and their loved one have received.
Every volunteer, regardless of where at Oakhaven they choose to contribute their time, is a highly respected and valued member of the team. Without our volunteers, Oakhaven would not be able to provide the level of service it does to those in the New Forest and Waterside community suffering from life-limiting illnesses. Oakhaven are committed to holding regular communication sessions between staff and volunteers and numerous social activities for volunteers are organised throughout the year. Can you help?
