Scottish Ambulance Service Charity Profile

The Scottish Ambulance Service has invested £0.5 million to equip all 450 of its patient transport vehicles with shock boxes that will enable quicker life saving support for patients across the country.

The shock boxes are fully automated so that no training is required to use them and, once applied to a cardiac patient, the box itself will identify what is required and deliver the appropriate level of charge. As the frontline of the NHS in Scotland, we provide an emergency ambulance service to a population of over 5 million people serving all of the nation’s mainland and island communities.

Our Patient Transport Service undertakes over 1.6 million journeys every year, ensuring that patients are able to attend hospital appointments.
