Akha Heritage Foundation Charity Profile

The Akha Heritage Foundation seeks to defend the human rights and culture of the Akha people and promote self determination for the Akha while assisting with nutrition, medical and educational needs. We believe that the security and well-being of Akha communities must take priority over "development" by outside interests.

We are strongly opposed to mission organizations which would remove Akha Children and destroy Akha language, literature, culture and identity. We believe that the defense of land rights and other human rights is at the heart of any just system, and we would oppose those who remain silent while these abuses continue.

Akha Heritage Foundation Volunteer Information

Our volunteer program is for those individuals who have the capacity and the will to contribute financially to the Akha Projects. We have two categories for volunteers. Our fist category is for short term people who come from within Thailand or other countries in the region.Our second category is Long Term Volunteers for people who want to become deeply involved in the project three months or longer.
