The Women's Home Charity Profile
The Women’s Home is a multi-ethnic, non-denominational, non-profit United Way agency. Founded in Houston in 1957, The Home’s reputation has grown alongside its facilities in both size and stature. The mission of The Women’s Home is to help women in crisis regain their self-esteem and dignity, empowering them to return to society as productive, self-sufficient individuals.
Our Vision: At The Women’s Home, we envision a world in which every woman embraces her unique value and potential for a life filled with love, dignity and purpose.
The Women's Home Volunteer Information
Our volunteers give more than 30,000 hours of their time annually, and the opportunities to help are as varied as our helpers. They teach classes, provide retail expertise in our thrift shop, and do construction work in our residences, among other things. Members of The Women’s Home Auxiliary coordinate our annual style show luncheon and create gift baskets, boutique items and specialty foods for sale. Volunteers can use their talents and interests to help in our efforts to rebuild women’s lives.
