RSVP Charity Profile
FiftyForward RSVP is a Senior Corps project of the Corporation for National and Community Service. With more than 450,000 members, RSVP is one of the largest volunteer organizations for older adults in the nation. RSVP projects and volunteers serve nearly every county of the United States.
Since 1982, FiftyForward (formerly Senior Citizens Inc.) has hosted RSVP of Davidson and Williamson Counties locally by providing a 30 percent match to the Corporation's grant.
FiftyForward RSVP places working and retired adults 55 and older into meaningful volunteer service in nonprofits, senior high-rise communities, and public and private schools in Davidson and Williamson counties.
RSVP's signature program, Friends Learning in Pairs (FLIP), Is a tutoring and mentoring program that places volunteers into weekly service, one on one, with at-risk kindergarten through fourth-grade readers in 34 public elementary schools.
RSVP volunteers are encouraged and inspired to use their life experiences to make a difference in their communities. In the July 2009 through June 2010 fiscal year, 800 RSVP volunteers provided 51,962 hours of service. At the current value of $21.36 per volunteer hour, that is a $1,109,908 investment in our community!
