Holston United Methodist Home For Children Charity Profile
The ministry of Holston Home began in 1895 when a single woman took a step of faith and founded an orphanage in Northeast Tennessee. From those early beginnings, the "Home" has grown to serve more than 400 children and their families on any given day with family service centers located throughout East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
We believe children grow up best in healthy families. Our professional, caring services are focused on keeping families together. When it is necessary for a child to live apart from his or her family, we provide quality, compassionate care and remain focused on getting the child and family reunited.
There is healing power found in healthy relationships with caring and capable adults committed to bringing out the best that is hidden deep within each child and each family. This agency has grown into a widely recognized organization serving hundreds of children and their families each year.
A fully integrated Continuum of Care combines managed care principles with a commitment to family systems and a genuine desire to provide hope and healing consistent with our Christian founding principles. Our goal is to support families and to assure each child is surrounded by the love and nurture of a family. We are proud to be partners with our state child welfare agencies, hundreds of foster and adoptive families, and our local churches and communities. Holston United Methodist Home for Children is guided by the following MISSION:
"Holston Home is a Christian ministry providing hope and healing for children and families struggling with life's challenges."
