Association for Persons with Disabilities and the Deaf - Free State APD-Free State Charity Profile
The Association for Persons with Disabilities - Free State is a non-profit organisation in the heart of South Africa. Our comprehensive portfolio of services provides support for thousands of clients with varying needs and from diverse contexts throughout the province. The APD Free State is an organisation of and for persons with disabilities. However, as part of our commitment to serve society at large, the APD Free State has made a conscious decision to expand its impact range to also include other marginalized persons, such as people affected by HIV/AIDS, older persons as well as the families of such marginalized persons. Furthermore, the APD Free State does not wish to be portrayed as simply a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO). It strongly believes in the ability of Persons with Disability to play a meaningful role in mainstream society. The APD sees its role on the one hand as enabling and facilitating whilst on the other hand it plays a strong advocacy role concerning persons with disabilities. Through this approach it is delivering a service to society in general and to persons with disability specifically.
