UNFPA Romania Charity Profile

UNFPA - United Nations Population Fund is an international development agency that promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity. UNFPA supports countries in using population data for policies and programmes to reduce poverty and to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV/AIDS, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect.

In 2005, it was signed the Country Programme Action Plan which represents the basis of collaboration between the Government of Romania and UNFPA for the next five years (2005-2009).

The main objectives are to strengthen the capacity of governmental institutions to develop and implement population, domestic violence and human traffic policies. Also, the increase of population access to quality reproductive health services and the youthrsquos better access to education and friendly services in reproductive and sexual health, focusing on preventing STIs and HIV/AIDS, remain a priority.
