Literacy Volunteers of East Bay Charity Profile

Literacy Volunteers of East Bay (LVEB) provides free, confidential, one-to-one tutoring for
adults. We tutor people working on basic reading and writing skills as well as those
preparing for their GED exams. We also work with ESL (English as a Second Language)
students who want to learn to speak English, acquire survival skills, and prepare for their
citizenship exam.Literacy Volunteers of East Bay consists of roughly 80 volunteers, a 8-member Board of Directors and one administrative director. We serve approximately 80 learners each year
through our well-trained tutors and group class leaders. Tutors must complete a 15-hour
training program and proceed with support from our literacy specialist.
