Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra Charity Profile
The Rhode Island Philharmonic is now in its 64th Season of performing live, symphonic music for the Rhode Island-southern New England community. The 2008-09 Season marks Music Director Larry Rachleff’s 13th Anniversary with the Philharmonic. Our mission has expanded, combining exceptional symphonic music performances with an ever-increasing emphasis on the highest quality music education available for our continually growing constituency through our Education and Community Partnerships Department.
Our comprehensive and ever-expanding music education program is integrated into the Education and Community Partnership department. Our Music School provides private instruction in voice and over 30 instruments, as well as performance education ensembles of all sizes, ability levels and instrumentations, from classical, pop, jazz and rhythm and blues to the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestras, Wind Ensembles and Junior Providence Singers. Thanks to the generosity of individual donors, foundations and corporations, we are able to provide scholarships to more than 300 students throughout Rhode Island. Our Community Partnerships provide music enrichment, instruction and educational performances at schools, community centers and social service agencies throughout the state, most notably our nationally recognized Creative Communities program presented in collaboration with the Pawtucket Housing Authority.
Under the artistic leadership of Music Director Larry Rachleff and Resident Conductor Francisco Noya, the Philharmonic comprises 73 professional musicians, a dedicated administrative staff and enormously committed volunteers who serve on the Philharmonic Board of Directors and Board of Overseers.
