Heritage Harbor Museum Charity Profile
Heritage Harbor Museum will be an intergenerational venue where the State's residents will share, learn, appreciate, and be inspired by the lives of past and present generations and their impact on the state, the nation, and the world. The complex heritage of Rhode Island and the surrounding region will be showcased through engaging exhibits, programs, and activities on site and off.
As one of 145 participating organizations in the Smithsonian Institution Affiliations Program, Heritage Harbor Museum will draw upon the collections and resources of the national museum. Smithsonian resources will add depth and breadth to our stories and programs, and facilitate Heritage Harbor Museum's quest to "advance knowledge, enhance understanding, and extol human dignity."
Mission Statement
Our mission is to create a grand harbor where the diverse cultures and communities of Rhode Island will come together to celebrate our times and traditions.
We seek to build a vibrant harbor that welcomes visitors from around the world to join our celebration and discover the wonder and stories of our state and its people.
We endeavor to fashion a protective harbor that stores and showcases historic treasures that connect us to the spirit and enlightenment of our past and guide us in directing our destiny.
And we seek to shape a harbor that becomes a source of wisdom and wealth for our community and a place of sharing and collaboration to advance knowledge, enhance understanding, and extol human dignity.

Heritage Harbor Museum Volunteer Information
Our enthusiastic and committed volunteers serve Heritage Harbor Museum in many ways: as members of the Board of Directors and various Board committees; as members of the Outreach Committee who have taken our story to festivals and special programs across the state; assistants in photo archiving, collections care, historic and funding research; reception and office assistance. They have served as goodwill ambassadors in their own neighborhoods, business communities and social groups.
