Delegation of The IIM In Lisbon Charity Profile

The International Institute of Macau was created by dozens of founding partners, Portuguese, Chinese and Macanese. They are figures of prestige, with records of public service in Macau — all in tune with Macau’s essential vocation of diversity, openness, innovation and progress. The International Institute of Macau is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) registered as a public utility entity, whose first managing bodies were elected in General Assembly, in December 1999.

The Institute is thus oriented towards serving two aspects: the deepening of factors governing Macau´s identity and factors of difference capable of supporting the principle one country two systems. Without differences, a second system for Macau would make no sense and Macau would rapidly become just another small city in the most populous nation of the world.

To achieve such an ambitious goal, the IIM has adopted the strategy of international promotion of Macau cultural and social identity, aiming to provide a meaningful contribution to the Territory´s development. We also believe that by doing so, Macau can be in position to be useful to China´s development.
