University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI) Volunteer Information
Volunteer & Community Services places volunteers in positions of service within UPMC Cancer Centers and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI). Our mission is to improve the quality of life for patients and their families during their visit or stay at UPMC Cancer Centers and to enhance the ongoing efforts of UPMC Cancer Centers and UPCI scientists, medical staff, and employees. Volunteer opportunities are created wherever there is a need, and volunteers are provided the opportunity to learn and experience personal growth while working to reduce the burden of cancer.
Why volunteer?
Some individuals choose our program to gain educational and career-related experience, while others may seek personal fulfillment and growth. Still others volunteer because of a commitment to serve our community. Many volunteers are themselves cancer survivors or have been moved to serve by family or friends who have been diagnosed with cancer. When you volunteer with us, you become a part of the cure for cancer.
Who can volunteer?
There are many volunteer opportunities for teenagers (starting at age 14), adults, and seniors. Our program is flexible and can accommodate school, social or work schedules.
