The Erie Community Foundation is a collection of charitable endowments operating under the administrative umbrella of a single public charity.

Our Mission: The Erie Community Foundation works to improve the quality of life in our region by evaluating and addressing community issues, by promoting responsible philanthropy and by connecting donors to the critical needs of the community

A community foundation is a key part of a community for several reasons. Not only are they granted tax-favored treatment by the Internal Revenue Service, a large collection of endowments achieves significant investment management and administrative economies of scale. Additionally, the ability to bring sophisticated investment tools to smaller endowment funds means significantly increased income for local charities.
