Young's Funny Farm, Inc Charity Profile
With a simple mission of We Bring Smiles, Young's Funny Farm provides animal assisted therapy with rescued animals that are given sanctuary at the farm.
Young's Funny Farm provides their animals for free visits to all type of facilities including hospitals, nursing homes, schools, special needs centers and homes and to community events.
Young's Funny Farm works with burros/donkeys from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management's Wild Horse & Burro Program. They are the only organization that uses the wild burros for therapy work as part of the Delta Society's Pet Partner Program.
In addition to the burros, also used are miniature horses, ducks and service/therapy dogs.
The founders of Young's Funny Farm, Neil and Yvonne Young had worked their dog Timmy at Ground Zero after 9/11. Timmy was the only therapy dog the NYPD credentialed for Ground Zero for Human Comfort.
Young's Funny Farm, Inc Volunteer Information
Young's Funny Farm is run strictly as a volunteer organization. No staff is paid and the Young's lend their property and equipment at no charge.
Young's Funny Farm, Inc Donation Information
As Young's Funny Farm provides it's services for free and receives no outside funding, it is dependent on donations to continue its mission of We Bring Smiles.
While funds are needed to help cover the costs of transporting the animals on visits and maintaining the vehicles used, other costs include care and feeding of animals including those who do not provide therapy.
Office supplies, training and registration costs and to maintained the farm.
To keep costs to a minimum, donations are also accepted of hay, horse feed, senior horse feed, cat food, dog food, equipment.
Used gates, kennels and crates can always be used as well as fencing, posts, fence rails.
