IHC New Zealand Charity Profile
IHC is New Zealand's largest provider of services to people with intellectual disabilities and their families. Its history reaches back 50 years to a group of families who set up an association to lobby for a better deal for their children.
IHC remains firmly committed to the values these early parents represented – the inclusion of all people with intellectual disabilities in their local communities.

Volunteers play an important part in the lives of people with an intellectual disability - developing friendships, doing new things and having fun.
Volunteering with IHC is as simple as including someone in an activity that you already do, such as:
A cuppa and a catch up over coffee - a great way to catch up with friends and enjoy companionship
Gym workout - it's good to have a friend to sweat it out with

Just hanging out at the local pub - relax and catch up with friends over a pint and a game of pool
Shopping - especially for birthday or special occasion presents can be fun and exciting
Walking the dog - share time with someone who loves animals too, or visit a local pet shop
Your favourity hobby - dancing, mountain biking, wine tasting, swimming, movies, art, basketball, reading, the list is endless and much more enjoyable when shared with a friend.
