Straightway Services Charity Profile

The Straightway Services youth program has begun another successful summer program that will run June thru September 2009. This program requires community service and classroom training on accountability; the youths are also paired with a year around mentor. The youth’s cleanup Portland parks by picking up litter and doing small projects for Portland Parks and Recreation they also work with the Portland Water Bureau on various projects.



This training program also teaches the youth how to use small hand tools while engaging them in community service and showing them environmental sustaining methods. The training consists of weekly classroom participation where the youths will learn about laws (local & state), curfew rules and expectations of accountability to parents and weekly community service work. This program is for low income youths that reside in Portland Oregon. 40 students will participate in this program

We are raising funds for this reason:



1. To give an incentive to the youths who participated. We want to offer a stipend to each child at the end of the program for the purchase of school clothing. This will also help the parents because most low income families cannot afford to buy new clothing for their children given the state of our economy where housing and food are the priority.




Straightway Services runs a youth academy all year round that provides mentors for the youth and their families. We provide counseling for the parents on a weekly basis helping them deal with traumatic life experiences such as addiction, divorce, incarceration and homelessness.

We are a 501c3 Non-Profit and any donation is fully tax deductible.
