Southern Oregon Humane Society Charity Profile

The Southern Oregon Humane Society is a private, not-for-profit organization that cares for and adopts more than 700 dogs and cats each year. Adoptions include spay or neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea and tick preventative, 24PetWatch Microchip, 30 days free Shelter Care Pet Insurance, worming, one free health check with a local veterinarian, three free basic obedience classes (dogs), new parent guide and a goodie bag filled with coupons and pet care products.

Time limits are not placed on the lives of pets at the Southern Oregon Humane Society. Animals are never euthanized to make room for more.
These life-saving services are only possible because of contributions from the local community. The Southern Oregon Humane Society does not receive funds from any other animal care organization, tax dollars, or the Humane Society of the United States.

Our current annual budget is $500,000. Approximately 12.5% of our income comes from adoption and intake fees and retail sales; the remaining 87.5% must come from local contributions by private individuals, organizations, foundations, and businesses.

The Southern Oregon Humane Society is committed to educating the community about responsible pet care and the humane treatment of all beings. Some of the educational curriculum includes LEAP (for at-risk middle school youth), the Pet Care Club (for 5th grade students), the Pets 'n' Pals Day Camp (for youth ages 5 to 10 years) and Pet ABC's (Preschool Pet Education).

The Southern Oregon Humane Society's future includes planning for a new state of the art animal care, adoption and education center. With the involvement of the community and you we can continue to advance our service to the pets and people of southern Oregon.
