Homeless Alliance Charity Profile
The Homeless Alliance is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the system of care for the homeless in Oklahoma City through collaboration with government, faith-based and nonprofit service providers, city government, and local businesses. The ultimate goal of the Homeless Alliance is to rally our community to end long-term homelessness in Oklahoma City by both preventing homeless and increasing the supply of affordable and permanent supportive housing to move those who are currently homeless back into housing.
As a means of reaching the goal of ending homelessness, the Alliance envisions a cohesive, collaborative and coordinated system of care, utilizing nationally recognized best practices to dramatically improve the services provided to our homeless population.
The Alliance vigorously encourages the use of the Horizon Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), a federally-supported, networked computer database that enables service providers to access data on homeless clients and the services available to them. Widespread use of Horizon will not only facilitate case management but, in the process, also generate system-wide data on the number and characteristics of homeless persons in Oklahoma City.
The Homeless Alliance seeks to rally our community to find better ways to help our homeless and make the system more efficient, more rational, and more caring.

Homeless Alliance Volunteer Information
Welcome Home Baskets
A laundry basket or hamper filled with household items. Typically when we place a family in housing they don’t have anything but their clothing. Items needed: cleaning supplies (disinfectant, mop, broom, dust pan, dish soap, etc.), dishes, pot, pan, pot holder, towels, toilet paper, paper towels, shower curtain, can opener, phone, laundry soap, etc… You can be as simple or creative as you wish this need.

Gift Certificates for Restaurants, Movies, etc…
We use these for incentives for our families in our supportive housing program, Building Foundations. These families work with a case manager. If a family completes a goal on their service plan or completes the life skills course, parenting class or anger management class, we reward them. We like to use activities the family can enjoy together and promote relationship building.

Gas Gift Certificates or 30-Day Bus Passes
Transportation is huge barrier for the families we work with. Families have very little or zero income and just getting to doctors appointments, mental health appointments, job interviews, and getting to work can be a challenge.

Day Planners
We need these to help keep our families organized and focused.

Wal-Mart or Target Gift Cards
To be used at case manager’s discretion with approval from program manager. Sometimes things come up that we just don’t have a funding stream for or a resource that is immediately available. IE: school uniforms, medication, car maintenance items, emergency food assistance until we can get the family to a food pantry, clothing for work (special shoes, scrubs).

Birthday Cards & Gift Cards
To be sent to clients in the program for their birthday. Often times, parents in the program struggle with providing their children with a cake and gift to celebrate their birthday. Gift cards should be $5 and come from such locations as: Baskin Robbins, Braums, Sara Sara Cupcake, Cuppies & Joe, or Pinkitzel.
