Hospice Of Lawton Area Volunteer Information

Hospice of Southwest Oklahoma began in 1983 as a small agency formed by a group of volunteers. Together these volunteers began a special program of care for persons who no longer fit into the traditional approach to aggressive curative treatment. Today, over 20 years later, that same determined spirit remains as HSWO continues to serve the community as the only not-for-profit hospice in our area. The volunteers hands-on assistance allows our organization to grow stronger as we impact the quality of life by providing "Care Beyond the Cure" for southwest Oklahomans.

Hospice of Southwest Oklahoma provides thorough orientation and training for all volunteer opportunities, and each area is just as important as the next. In as little as one morning or afternoon a week, volunteers make a difference with every second they give providing comfort, support, and genuine care to the people they nurture
Our volunteers are the heart of Hospice providing invaluable support to our patients and their families. These volunteers are a diverse group, including seniors, students, professionals, families, church and community groups that enrich our services. Whether in our office, the community, or in the homes of our patients, the helping hands of Hospice of Southwest Oklahoma volunteers continue to impact our community.

Volunteers can perform much needed services in many different areas within our organization. You decide how much time and what services best fulfill your desires to make a difference. Some volunteers are comfortable giving patient care, transportation, or administrative support. Others work on special events or with our Grief Resource Center. Still others will be joining one of our specialized programs like the Bear Brigade as their way of helping others.

The gift of your time and expertise can only enrich our services and enhance the quality of life for all of Southwest Oklahoma. The touching role a volunteer takes on when they give of themselves can be reflected in the many types of activities available to our volunteers here at Hospice of Southwest Oklahoma.
